Remember when you were a kid and afternoons and weekends were always spent riding bikes with friends? Not a care in the world and maybe not enough proper gear, too. Ah, simpler times. As adults, riding bikes are still just as fun, but many are doing it mostly to stay healthy while enjoying the whole ride. However, as you know, hitting adulthood also means aging, and with age, our bodies need more support than we care to admit.
You know the usual equipment you need to ride your bike and stay safe, a good helmet, knee and elbow pads, maybe some grip gloves, and proper reflective wear. These are all meant to keep you safe and prevent injuries should you get in an accident. So what else do you need to ride safely and not need to cut off your ride short because youre feeling sore or unsafe?
Saddle suspension bike seat Imagine if youre using a standard seat and riding across a cobblestone path. Can you imagine how itll feel after just 2 minutes on that kind of bumpy ground? Your bottom ist the only thing that will feel sore, the vibrations will travel all the way up to your back and throughout your body. Changing your bike seat to one of these will allow you to endure your ride for longer. Because it has a dynamic suspension, it will dampen vibrations and absorb drops regardless of the terrain youre traversing.
Mounted Speedometer if youre trying to keep track of your trips in real-time, its a safe bet you have a good number of apps on your phone. But, mounting your phone on your bike isnt always the smartest move to make, so having a speedometer that has about the same information will allow you to see how youre doing in a single glance.
Proper biking clothes are often jerseys that allow your body to stay comfortable even when you sweat. When choosing yours, opt for dry-fit apparel that conforms to your body and allows for better mobility and breathability, and won't cause irritation even when it rubs your skin as you move.
Biking specific socks and shoes proper socks will keep your feet insulated and supported throughout the rigorous work its about to undertake. The same applies to shoes. Many think they can just use any pair of shoes since they'll just be pedaling anyways. But thats not necessarily true especially if you're riding for long periods or distances. You need proper biking shoes that can literally clip into the pedals. This will enable your feet to stay securely on top of the pedals as you ride and prevent any untoward missteps or injuries.
Solar-powered lighting sure you can opt for the battery-powered ones, but you dont want them to die down when you need them the most because you forgot to replace or bring spare batteries. Solar-powered ones will charge during the day and you can use them when its dark. You need to have a good lighting source even when you dont intend to stay out late. Sometimes, you enjoy your ride so much that you may lose track of time.
