Its a safe bet that youve found yourself scrolling through photos online that doesnt necessarily involve people, activities, or items that you want to buy. Have you ever found yourself staring and scrolling through landscape photos of mountains, flowers, the sky, bodies of water, etc.? An even better question, have you ever thought about taking some photos yourself but feel youre not as experienced to do so? Fret not, there are a few tricks that are so easy to do, youll end up taking photos that look professional enough to frame and hang on the wall.
Use a mobile macro lens
You dont need a fancy camera just to get great photos of smaller subjects that have great details thats just ripe for the taking. Take flowers for example. If you were to use your camera lens the usual way, then youll just see a general image of the plant. However, with a simple change to your macro setting (or use a clip-on macro lens if you dont), you can take pictures of flowers and actually show off the petals and the details within. Its enough to even show the small hairs on the stems and leaves around it.
Flip your phone upside down
Maximize your image focus by simply flipping your phone. Your camera lens should be at the bottom and youll see things from a whole new perspective. This is actually also a great tip that applies if youre trying to get an awesome photo of your pet or any small animal.
Panorama mode for great landscape
Dont force your phone to take a wide or tall image in one shot. It wont be properly focused and will look like an irrelevant and badly taken photo at best. Use your panorama mode so you can pan left to right, top to bottom, and bottom to top if you want to include your feet to capture an image the way you see it from where you sit.
Dont zoom now
Take the best photo you see fit, then crop it later to zoom on the part that you actually want to be highlighted. It might be tempting to just zoom in before you take the shot, but you have to understand that doing so will run the risk of pixelating your image or making it grainy in the final photo.
Discover lighting
Youve read many people say lighting is everything, that its this magical component of the perfect picture. While there is truth to that, there is no single light setting that defines a great photo. You can test this out even when youre at home. Take a photo of a single subject like maybe the view outside your window early in the morning, sometime in the afternoon when the sun is on the other side, and before the sunsets.
Dont be afraid to use filters and other editing tricks
Your phone is equipped with several preset filters that will change the overall lighting effect. You can blur some parts of the background or enhance the photo to how you see fit.
So what are you waiting for? Charge your phone and start taking photos of everything around you even if it means just starting outside your door.
