Weights � there�s no need for an entire weights station. Several pairs of dumbbells and maybe kettlebells are enough to give your muscles a workout. There�s nothing fancy about dumbbells and kettlebells although a lot of them carry labels from known sports brands. Choose these equipment at varying weights that can be incorporated into your exercise program. Match the weights with specific exercises to give you a total body workout or to tone and sculpt particular muscle groups.
Jump Rope � you are no doubt familiar with this as a playground plaything. It�s an effective tool for exercising too. You can get a good cardio session with 30 minutes of jumping rope. There are routines that you can search for and follow online. Don�t give yourself a hard time if you are not able to go full-on for the entire duration of the routine. It�s not as easy as it looks. Although it does not require complicated movements, it does keep your heart pumping and give your muscles a killer workout to get you huffing and puffing.
Mat � for most stretching exercises and floor work, all you need is a mat to give you a comfortable padded surface and to protect you from slipping. Don�t be confused as to which one to purchase. You will find that there are general exercise mats and there are mats for yoga and Pilates. It�s more common to get either a mat for general purposes or a yoga mat. You can find yoga mats as thin as 3mm to as thick as 6mm, while general exercise mats can be thicker. They can be made of PVC, EVA, TPE, or vinyl. Choose the most durable mat that can withstand the intensity of your workouts.
Instead of falling for glib sales pitches on the latest fitness contraptions that promise overnight results, get grounded on your own goals and circumstances first. Make sure that you are ready to commit to doing the exercises regularly and consistently. You will find that even the simplest tools will give you results as long as you use them properly. On the other hand, even the most effective piece of exercise equipment will not help you reach your fitness goals if you spend more time on your couch munching on snacks.
