You've recently learned how to stagger kitchen cabinets, yet you're already eager to start another project. Then suddenly, you see your kids running around, leaving behind a trail of clutter. You find yourself wondering if there's a way to keep them engaged in their own personal space.
Well, with these kids' room design ideas, you'll be able to add a touch of magic to even the most boring spaces-making it easier to keep your children from turning your entire abode into their playground. And of course, you'll also get to scratch that interior design itch in the process.
Chalkboard Corner
When you were really young, didn't you have any urge to write or draw on walls? Though you probably weren't allowed to, you managed to sneak a few crayon drawings that's to this day can be found in your parents' home. Don't you want your kids to have that kind of experience?
By covering an entire side of your kids' room with chalkboard paint, you basically give them the chance to unleash their creativity. Do note, however, that some paints release harmful fumes that can cause all sorts of diseases. To be safe, only go for those with zero volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
Wallpaper Whimsy
Kids' rooms need to have vibrant colors to keep their occupants occupied. So, instead of just repainting a few corners, why not go all out with wallpapers. Not only is it easier to do, but you'll also have the chance to take part in a one-of-a-kind bonding activity.
Bring your children along in your trip to the hardware store, and let them give suggestions or make some picks. Remember that even if they end up liking something that would look out of place in your home, it's their own little space that you're decorating. Besides, wallpaper isn't hard to remove.
Fairytale Furniture
If you have a fairly large budget, you could get rid of all existing furniture in their room and swap in pieces that look like they're from a storybook. Drawers fit for royalty, carriage-shaped bedframes' these will make your kid feel like a princes.
Do you have a toddler who's fascinated with vehicles? Jeep beds are a thing and they're not hard to find. The same can be said for shelves shaped like trains and racecars. If you're rather confident with your woodworking skills though, maybe you could build these instead.
Workstation Wonder
Fun can be combined with learning with the right setup. For example, if your kids often find themselves looking for art materials, you could put a pegboard behind their desks and install mini shelves for quick access. Putting rolling storage carts at the end of each table might also do the trick.
If the desks themselves are fine but the entire area looks too plain, consider hanging a large poster or a framed piece of art. On the other hand, if space is the main problem, then a fold-out workstation would be ideal. As for making sure it matches the room's aesthetics, well, that should be easy.
What are Your Ideas?
These are just a few kids' room design ideas to get you started. So, don't hesitate to come up with your own. And once you do, be sure share them with others who are also trying to think of ways to keep their children engaged and their homes clutter-free.
