One characteristic that appetizers are known for are their simple and easy way to make. Despite the small size, appetizers always delight the taste buds, preparing the tongue for the next dish that is to come.
The following are suggested appetizers that would surely please the palate of any foodie.
Mousse of Cantaloupe
This appetizer takes only about 10 minutes to prepare and is good for four people. The dish requires around 2 hours of refrigeration time in order for its cool, rich flavor to be appreciated.
Health-wise, the dish can be considered nutritious since it has cantaloupe , which is a good source of Vitamin C, prosciutto (thin, cured Italian ham) for protein, and cream cheese for vitamins A and B.
The ingredients of the dish include:
7 ounces prosciutto
1 cantaloupe small
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
4 thinly sliced prosciutto
4 ounces cream cheese

The preparation:
1. Rinse the cantaloupe with clean water, then remove the outer skin and seeds of the fruit. Cut the remaining flesh into chunks, then set aside.
2. Add the prosciutto and butter in a blender and mix using medium speed. Blend for30 seconds.
3. Introduce the cream cheese in a blender and mix for 30 to 40 seconds.
4. Next, add the cantaloupe chunks and blend until the mixture presents a creamy appearance.
5. Store the appetizer in a refrigerator for about 3 to 4 hours before serving. Fill the dish halfway in a small glass with 1 slice of prosciutto as a garnish in each glass.
Salmon Canapes
This dish takes a total of 20 minutes to do, which includes 5 minutes of cooking time and 15 minutes of preparation time. The recipe can provide at least 24 pieces of the appetizer.
Health benefits from a small serving of Salmon Canapes can be credited to the smoked salmon fish, which is a source of protein and omega-3 fatty acids, French baguette for carbohydrates, and cream cheese as source of vitamins A and B.
The appetizer is made up of:
8 ounces thinly sliced smoked salmon meat
1 French Baguette
1/2 cup sour cream
8 ounces softened cream cheese
dill springs

The instructions on how the dish is prepared include:
1. Set baking oven temperature to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
2. The baguette is sliced into 24 half-inch thick round pieces, then placed over a baking sheet.
3. Introduce an oven rack, containing the baguette, in the middle of the pre-heated oven. Let the bread bake for about 5 minutes or when it appears slightly toasted. Take out the bread from the oven and let cool.
4. The salmon meat must be cut into 24 pieces then set aside.
5. Apply cream cheese with the 24 pieces of baked baguette and top each with sour cream and a piece of smoked salmon. Garnish each canapé with a dill spring.
