Myth # 1: You Must Not Eat After 8:00 PM

The truth about calories is that they can�t tell time. The body absorbs the same amount of nutrients from food regardless if you took it on 6:00 AM or 6:00 PM.

With that being said, however, it is advised that you do not make a habit out of late-night snacking. If you have to eat something before sleeping, try something healthy like fruits or cereals.

Myth #2: Eating Small Boosts Your Metabolism

The truth is that the amount of food you intake does not have a considerable effect on your body�s metabolism. Some substances like caffeine might give your body a temporary metabolic boost but this is not enough to help it lose weight.

The best alternative is to focus on diets that allow you to build your muscles up . A pound of non-fat tissue tends to burn in between 10 to 14 calories a day while the same amount in fats only burns in between 2 to 3. This also means that you have to increase your amount of exercise per day.

Myth #3: Milk Helps You Lose Weight

This myth is probably born out of the fact that milk contains calcium which helps the bones grow bigger . As such, milk drinkers have slightly denser and larger frames which helps distribute the fat better throughout the body.

With that being said, however, there is absolutely nothing in milk that makes the body burn through fat faster. Milk remains a suitable addition to any diet but, to really lose weight, it is advisable that you stick to low-fat alternatives.

Myth #4: Pasta Should be Avoided at All Costs

This myth is based on the misconception that pasta contains carbohydrates which, in turn, are converted into sugars in the body and stored as fat. The truth is that carbohydrates don�t make you fat per se, it�s the extra calories that you get from eating a lot of food .

In short, removing pasta from diets is not the solution but controlling the portions of the food you eat. In fact, a cup of pasta with a generous covering of sauce should contain no more than 200 calories per serving.

Myth #5: Coffee Can Curb Your Appetite

Aside from not boosting your metabolism in the long term, coffee is not a solution to dealing with hunger. In fact, consuming too much caffeine could lead to a number of complications including an elevated blood pressure.

Again, the solution here is moderation. Treat coffee as a drink to help your mind keep focused and alert, not to make your stomach full. Also, remember that everything you add to your cup of coffee like cream and sugar will increase that drink�s calorie count.
