Low-energy dogs are dogs that have the lesser ability to be fully active in physical activities. They may be naturally playful, but can easily get worn out after a period of time playing.
Looking for one that can keep you company during cozy nights of watching your favorite TV shows? Here are some of them, ranging from a small breed to a bigger breed.
Pugs are an adorable breed of dog whose name derives from the Latin word "fist" because their faces resemble the human fist. Their big, round eyes on a flat, round face can surely light up anyone's day. They are playful, but being a low-energy breed of dog, they easily get tired.
A pug is a good companion and would usually follow you around the house or may ask for constant attention and playtime. On the contrary of being good companions, they shed a lot, may be loud, and prone to eye injuries. They may be playful, intelligent, and loyal, but they can also be willful and resistant to commands at first. Now, this makes the training a bit challenging.
Another breed of low-energy dogs are lap dogs like the English Bulldogs. They are medium-sized dogs with a short muzzled head, broad torsos, and thick limbs. Due to their build, they tend to "waddle" than to walk. Breeding this type of medium-sized dogs can be a pain in the pocket, for they usually deliver their offspring through the Caesarean section -- which costs a big sum of money. They may be a good companion, but there are a lot you must consider before owning one. Bulldogs are highly sensitive to temperature, and they are prone to distress and overheating. And because of their pinched, short noses, they find it difficult to tolerate cold weathers. It is best that you take this breed to the veterinary clinic regularly.
Last, but not the least for our list are the Chow Chows. They are a large breed of low-energy dogs. They are known for their independence, aloof personality, and for being a ball of fluff! They must be kept socialized and well-groomed. They are highly cautious of strangers, but once you are no longer a stranger to a Chow Chow, it is easier to get along with them. There is a possibility where this breed will pick its "master" or the one it will only follow at a drop of a hat, without reservations.
Low-energy dogs would seem to be less tiring to handle, but that is all just a misconception. They may not be "physically-draining" but they will be "financially-draining", though. That should not be big of an issue since all dogs require a lot of care and attention, as well as training.
These types of dogs may be in need of less training, but keeping them healthy and in good shape would be the bigger challenge for you. Keeping a low-energy dog may be draining in some way, but they all be the most adorable companions you will ever have.
