There are people from all walks of life searching for ways to make more money and how to make money online in particular. It might be the desire to take a vacation, to have more time with family or to work from home, but one thing is certain - there are more people now than ever before searching for ways to make money online.

If you believe the hype, the internet is a mine full of gold and your fingers are the pickaxe hitting your keyboard which with each strike will toss out nuggets of gold as if you were striking it rich in the Gold Rush of the 1800's.

Don't believe the hype. It's actually a huge problem when you try to look for legitimate ways to make money online as there are tons of scams and snake oil salesmen out there. It's like the Wild West in some ways...

Here's a piece of good advice for you...

If it looks too good to be true, it probably is...

As they say, "All that glitters is not gold".

It's a dilemma.

There we are dreaming of:

1. Quitting our JOB
2. Living the good life
3. Having more free time
4. Relaxing in a tropical paradise
5. Spending time with our loved ones

... and right there before our very eyes is someone with a shiny red Lamborghini at their beautiful mansion telling us how they can teach us how to quickly make money online...

With excitement, we eagerly click on the PayPal buy button spending our money to get the course, information, participate in the membership club or whatever it is, failing to read the income disclaimer which describes how almost no one has made any money...

Our dreams of escaping our J.O.B. have turned into cursing out the S.O.B. for taking our money, but now it is too late to get our money back as we have passed the refund period!

If that's you don't be ashamed because that was me too. But, the good news is that I finally passed through that "phase", have made money online and am going to share some tips with you to get you moving in the right direction...

1. Start Slow! The Internet has an overwhelming amount of information on it and when you start researching don't jump at the first few things that you see. It's likely that you'll have information overload and be tempted several times to click the buy button. Don't allow that to happen. Think about learning to make money online a bit like going to school - you don't just push a button and it happens overnight. You learn different pieces that help you master the subject.

2. Take Notes From Websites With Good Information - and take notes on what you are learning about bad information, it will help you to learn to discriminate good from bad.

3. Set Aside Specific Time To Learn & Do Research - Most people are doing research while working jobs, so set aside a set time to do your research. Treat it with the importance it deserves. Think about it like you would as if you were prepping for a new job or job interview because, in fact, you are. It could be your new job, but a fun one which could be very lucrative if done correctly...

4. Stay Organized - Do you your best to stay organized. I've struggled with sifting through mountains of printed paper and download files and let me assure you I wish I had organized things better in the beginning.

It's a real pain in the neck looking for a website address or important bit of information and wasting 15, 20, 30 minutes or more trying to find it, or recreating the information because you can't locate it.

You can give yourself a tremendous competitive advantage by adopting a learning mindset. Some people view their learning as stopping once they get out of school. To succeed online adopt the mindset of being a learner, if you don't, be prepared to be disappointed. I can't stress this one enough.

5. Consider Affiliate Marketing - This is an easier route for beginners. Basically, you are promoting other people's products and receiving a portion of the sales or a commission.

This is a good one to research online, but again be very careful, take it slow and don't jump at every "shiny object".

6. Research & Pick A Product To Sell - Look for a product or service that you like, this makes it easier to sell as you're more likely to both do the work and learn what you need to do to sell it.

7. Testing - When you find a product test the waters.

Here's how you might do that - Perhaps purchase Solo Ads, Banner advertising or PPC.

There are so many products and services to become an affiliate for that you can easily sign up for a huge number of products to promote, but narrow the field to one or two in the beginning, preferably one.

People often make the mistake of trying to promote too many things at once, become confused and fail in their efforts.

How many people learn to hit a baseball by having a professional pitcher throw fastballs at them. No one, that's who!
So, master the skills you need with one product and then step up your game...

It could turn out that the product itself is not a great one, but don't worry about that too much. Who hops on a bicycle and rides it perfectly the first time. Again, no one, that's who.

So, don't spend a ton of money on advertising until you've found a product that people want and you've begun to understand how to market and advertise it.

8.Be Passionate and Persevere!
Create a plan to promote yourself and your product using as many high payoff strategies as possible.

If you are setting up a website or selling products and services it's important to get feedback from others about your efforts. Does your site look good? Is it optimized for conversions, etc? You could ask family and friends or seek coaching to provide quality feedback to help you improve...

Keep in mind that how we learn is by making mistakes and falling down, it's how we learn to get back up... Think about a child, that's how they learn to walk...

10. Be Prepared To Fail & Keep Going - Be prepared for failure, it's no big deal, in fact, it's a good thing, it's a learning experience. Look at what you can improve, do this repeatedly and you are sure to succeed. In fact, when people ask about the secret of success it's actually what I've just written. It's trying new things, falling down, learning from mistakes, and getting back up repeatedly - Successful people persevere despite setbacks and challenges, unsuccessful people stay down when they fall down.

So, I've given you some tips and pointers to keep you moving forward on your quest to make money online. It is absolutely possible to do. It's a strange irony because at no time in history has it been easier to start a business or make money thanks to the internet, but at the same time, it's really hard to know where to start and to avoid the scam infested waters of the internet...
