Let's begin by defining what physical wellness is.
The definition of physical wellness; Living a longer and healthier life. So how do you live a longer and healthier life? You do so by maintaining a proper diet, getting plenty of exercise, developing good habits and making smart lifestyle choices.
So, now that we know what physical wellness is, the real challenge is how you can go about achieving it.
You can achieve optimal health and total wellness (physical wellness) by being on preventive health care/wellness program. Here I will highlight some of the key elements of a preventative health care/wellness program:
Preventive Healthcare/Wellness Program
There are three primary components to this program which includes:
1. Maintaining a proper diet and nutrition regimen
2. Getting plenty of exercise
3. Making sensible lifestyle choices and developing good habits.
Now let's go ahead and break down each component.
1. Maintaining a proper diet and nutrition regimen
Here is an example (recommendation) of proper diet and nutrition program.
A diet and nutrition plan that consist primarily of plant-based foods which includes vegetables, fruits, healthy fats, meatless protein sources (e.g. beans, peas, nuts, seeds and organic soy products), legumes (e.g. beans and peas), and whole grains. Conversely, you should severely limit your consumption of animal-based products which includes meat, eggs, poultry, seafood, and dairy products.
A diet and nutrition plan which includes nutritional insurance. So what is nutritional insurance you ask? Nutritional insurance is supplementing your diet (food) with nutritional supplements. Multi-vitamins (vitamins and minerals), calcium, and vitamin D supplements are a few examples of nutritional supplements.
Now let's move on to the second component of our preventative health care/wellness program.
2. Getting plenty of exercise
According to the "Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans" they recommend two types of physical activity each week to improve your health; aerobic and muscle-strengthening exercises.

Muscle-Strengthening Activities on 2 or more days a week that work all major muscle groups; Legs, shoulders, arms, back, hips, abdomen and chest.
And now here is the third and final component of our preventative health care/wellness program.
3. Making sensible lifestyle choices and developing good habits.
An example of poor lifestyle choice and bad habits include; A chain smoker and excessive alcohol consumption. Another bad habit and lifestyle choice is someone who eats lots of junk food and lays around the house (no exercise) and watches T.V. all day. On the other hand a smart lifestyle choice and good habits would include; No smoking, very little if any alcohol consumption, eating healthy foods (e.g. plant-based diet) and getting proper nutrition and exercise.
