It's so easy to crucify ourselves over what seems to be important to us, when really it means nothing. In my 2nd book of the series, Mastering Your Own Spiritual Freedom, I told a story about my opinion of Johnny Cash's sloppy handwriting waking me up was merely my own opinion, no one else's.
This is not something that was a negative in his life. The thought that struck me, quickly and deeply, was that no one who is interested in my message would care about my own self-declared sloppy penmanship. Inner words of wisdom, we can say. So why was I wearing the "crown of thorns" that I placed there myself?
The Holy Spirit sorted this out for me and suggested I remain focused on my message, which is important, and will one day be printed material, so my handwriting will have meant nothing.
My point? This is how the ego sneaked in the back door to take advantage of my plan less journey.
However, the Holy Spirit used time and my experiences to create my vision of continuing from my own true free will, which is inner peace for myself, so I can share it. The writing of these books for now is simply one of the ways I am able to extend my free will to you, so that you may do the same.
The "slop" experience taught me the value of deciding in advance what I wanted to create, so I can perceive situations as a means to bring about my goals. Bad handwriting or not, the journey must continue because it is what I want—not what I wish for—and what I want explains itself as my true free will, with the explanation coming from God.
When we can make every effort to overlook whatever interferes with an accomplishment of our objective, and concentrate only on everything that helps us meet it, then what is happening will be quite noticeable. It is an approach by your Inner Guide to sort out the truth from the false.
Yes, it was absolutely the truth that in the eyes of most people, my handwriting is indeed sloppy, messy, and can be childlike. But it is also not true that it has anything whatsoever to do with placing this book in your hands. The situation now has meaning, but only because the goal has made it meaningful.
A Course in Miracles points out to us that the goal of truth has further practical advantages within your own self.
If a situation is used for truth and for your own sanity, its outcome is always peace. In my case, my handwriting, in whatever form it may be, was a short-lived problem that I now laugh off as one of the ego's tricks that I was able to expose.
Why did the ego, which is a part of my mind that is the root of wrong-mindedness, wish to trick me? Because it is the part of me that was once afraid of writing a book that may make a fool of me. Do you see how insane this concrete picture is?
If inner peace becomes the condition of truth and sanity, and cannot exist without them both, then where peace is, truth and sanity must be. Truth arrives of itself because it is always there and is always looking on.
If you are experiencing peace, it must be because you are operating from truth, and you see everything truly. Therefore, deception will not prevail against you.
You will recognize a true outcome because you are at peace. This is where you will see the ego's way of looking at things. The ego believes that the situation brings on the experience, such as my poor handwriting being a mirror for my message.
But your True Inner Guidance System knows what the situation is, as the goal determines it to be, and is experienced according to the goal. In other words, my real goal, and not my poor handwriting, produced this book. And my poor handwriting served as a tool that allowed me to learn this lesson and persevere with my true goal and purpose. What I took in wrong-mindedness to be a flaw, in right-mindedness I see was a gift.
Remember, just as I must remind myself often, the Holy Spirit and the ego are both in our minds. The difference is that the Holy Spirit does not recognize the ego, because the ego is not real. It's an illusion, a false idea of life, whereas the Holy Spirit is of God and so are you. The goal of truth does require faith.
Faith is the nature of accepting your purpose, which the Holy Communicator brings to you, and this faith is all-inclusive—meaning that there must be faith in the first place.
To your purpose in life
