As a bit of a gizmo lover, and also the owner of a Garmin Fenix 3 smartwatch, I was after an alternative step counter and way of getting notifications when I am not wearing my Garmin, and this looked like the ideal product. It is much cheaper than many other fitness, step and notification bands, especially the Microsoft band which we recently purchased for our son to use with his Nokia Lumia.
The Elegant SAWAKE bracelet is a multi-function fitness tracker with the benefit of a touch-screen, USB interface, step and sleep monitoring, as well as date, time, alarm and bluetooth notifications (depends on OS).
The band fits well, and can be adjusted through a wide range of sizes, which is actually better than the Microsoft Band 2, which our son has, and must be purchased in the correct size. It should fit wrists from around 16cm to 20.5cm in circumference.
You are required to download an app in order to make use of the bands functions, which is similar to other lower end trackers. I installed the Zeroner app on my iPhone 5s, and was up and running in a matter of minutes, once I had created an account. This will let me to track various indicators, like how much I sleep, steps or calories do I burn. Also, once paired, the date and time are immediately corrected on the bracelet, and additional alarms can be configured.
I tried to enable notifications, but as I am using an iPhone, I believe this is a feature which may only work correctly with Android phones.
Unlike many of the other similar devices, there is no charger cable included. This is because the main unit, which is clipped into the wristband, has an integral USB plug on it. You need to remove the whole unit each time you need to charge it up, so needs handling with due care, and removing and inserting carefully. It can be charged by pluging it into any available USB port, either on a laptop (as I did), or a USB charger or HUB. The white LED at the end shows the charging status. Be careful, as the USB plug is at an angle, and the main unit was pushing down on my desk when the plug was inserted into a USB socket on the side.
The vibration is strong enough to raise your attention, but not enough to disturb others, and the touch-screen is very responsive, only needing gentle presses and swipes to scroll through the various screens.
As with all of these types of devices, the accuracy of the readings depends on the initial data you provide when configuring your account, so make sure that is accurate. Also, the steps and sleep monitoring are dependent on a normal stride, and a well fitted bracelet. Don't expect extreme accuracy, but comparing one day to another should help you improve your fitness. Even my £450 Garmin Fenix 3 can be somewhat inaccurate at times.
Summary:
Overall, the LOPEZ Bluetooth Sports Band is an ideal fitness tracker for anybody who does not need the functionality of a Microsoft Band 2, or the expense of a Fitbit, but does want to keep an eye on their activity level and heart rate.
