Share free training, inspirational quotes or thoughts, and bring information that is valuable to your audience. Did you catch that? I didn't say blast your link and your sales pitch all over hoping that even though you are annoying people they will somehow want to join you in your business or purchase your product. I love the comparison of social media being like going to a party. Can you imagine how many relationships you would make if you came into the party screaming about your product and telling people they needed to buy your product. My guess is that you would walk out of the party with no new friends and no sales. That's exactly how social media works as well.
Spend time providing content that meets the needs of your audience.
As you provide content on a consistent basis, you become the person your audience looks to as the expert in your niche. I know it seems counter intuitive to give away free content, but this world is full of people who do just the opposite. They try to sell, sell, sell. I've said it before...people DO NOT want to be sold, BUT they love to buy things. They love to buy things that meet their needs, wants and desires from someone they trust. They trust you because you have built that relationship and developed their trust. It also means you have a great responsibility to protect that relationship.
Brand You - Not Your Company
It is important to brand your self on Instagram and not your company. Think about it, your company wouldn't need you if people were beating their door down to join them. People like to join with other people they like, respect and enjoy. This is a people business. So, when you try to push your business first, you are actually "blocking" people from what they really want...and that's you!
So how do you brand yourself on Instagram?
There are several great tools and apps that you can use and I'll list those closer to the bottom. Brand everything you post by including your watermark on everything. It is also important to post 4-5 times a day to stay in front of your audience.
A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words
Researchers have found that colored visuals increase people's willingness to read a piece of content by 80%. Content with relevant images gets 94% more views than content without relevant images. When people hear information, they likely will only remember 10% of what they heard just 3 days later. However, if a relevant image is paired with that same information, they retain 65% at the end of 3 days. So, for those who want to overlook Instagram as a valid platform for lead generation, I think they are missing out on a gold mine.
A Video Is Worth A Million Words
As good as pictures are, nothing moves faster than the speed of video. It's the fastest way to build relationships with your audience. If you want to build your business, you have to use videos. It allows people to see your expressions and get to know you better. Words are great, pictures are good, but videos is the ultimate method for connecting with your audience. According to forecasts, soon more than 80% of all traffic on the internet will be video based. So, while I know it can be hard for most people, you must learn to provide good content using videos. You can post them on Instagram, then post them to all your other social media sites. In fact, I would suggest doing that will most things that you post on Instagram. Not all of your audience will be on Instagram, so be sure to post your content to all your sites. At first, you may want to do it manually, but eventually you can use a tool like Hootsuite to blast it to all your social media accounts automatically.

Remember to post 5-10 times per day. This would include your own original content, posting other people's content, or re-sharing some of your older content. This includes videos, inspirational quotes, and some pics related to your business. Try to keep personal pics or posts on a separate personal account. Again, add your watermark to all your own original content on social media, but never watermark other people's content or pictures.
