I started my organic skin care home business because I wanted two things: financial freedom and time freedom.

I am a mother of young twins and a Ph.D. candidate in religious studies. What this means is that I am trying to balance my family life with my intellectual life. This, let me tell you, is not the easiest thing to do. it is fairly easy to devote your whole self to one or the other: quit your job and be a stay at home mom and spend tons of time with your kids and create a warm and flourishing environment, or take on a full time job which takes a significant amount of time and energy so that, if you're lucky, you have evenings and weekends to enjoy your family, clean the house, make the meals, buy the groceries, etc., etc. Even if you share all these responsibilities with your partner, it is a total whirlwind and a minor miracle to pull off.

If you want to work part time, however, and spend a significant amount of time at home and with your kids, but you also want to get out of the house and interact with other adults in a meaningful way beyond being just a child-minder, it is very tough to find a job that is fulfilling and also part-time .

So let's talk more about creating an organic skin care home business: why it's a good idea, why I love the one that I have created, and how to jump into this business.

Organics are a booming industry right now and that does not show evidence of slowing down.

The smartest business move if you are considering a direct sales or a network marketing/MLM opportunity is to choose a company that sells consumable products.

Consumable products are things like shampoo, soap, and (to a lesser degree) nutrition products. Anything that people run out of and reorder are consumable products. This is a great business move because when people run out of a product, they will reorder. You get paid, then, not just for their first order, but for every order they place until the switch products or they die. (Sorry to be a little bit dark there, but I know that I will be washing my hair until I die, and I suspect most others will be as well.)
