What's the job

Here's the problem I have, I need to get my hall, stairs and landing decorated, and I need to get a professional painter and decorator to give me a price that I can live with. I'm at work 6 days a week and don't have the time or skill to get the job done properly. I moved into this house 2 years ago and have been putting of the job for ages and I need to get this job done soon.

Get three Quotes

I need to get 3 painter and decorator prices, but I am going one step further and ask for 3 quotations (which means a fixed price) Now I need to find 3 decorators that are skilled enough to do a good job and at the right price with a fixed quotation. A friend of mine has given me a phone number of a decorator he used for a decorating job and found to be very good, I phoned him up and he is coming round to look at the job.
I asked the local hardware shop manager to give me a reliable decorator phone number and I also asked the local decorating super store for a decorators phone number, so now I have 3 decorators arranged to give me painter and decorator prices in the form of quotations.

Choosing a decorator

How do I go about choosing the decorator that I want to decorate my hall, stairs and landing. Well I showed them the job to be done and as I wanted the quotation to be in writing they all complied and sent me written quotes.
I also checked out the decorators websites and looked at recent work that they had done and any guarantees they would give with any jobs they would do. And I chose the middle quote, I didn't want a cheap quick job, I want the job done properly so that it will last and look good for a few years at least.

The finished job

Did the decorator do a good job for me? well I chose the safe colour combination to decorate my hall, stairs and landing white ceiling and woodwork and magnolia walls. Yes he did a great job, I had cleared the area to be decorated and took the light shades down, he covered the floors and carpets with dust sheets so there was no accidents with paint and just got on with the job.
I will use the decorator again as I now trust him not only to do a good job but to leave him alone in my home to do that job.
So when you need to get some painter and decorator prices I hope you will be as careful as me.
