A wine chiller is a great addition to your home especially if you love to stock wines. You can buy one in your local appliance centers or even through the internet. But what if you already need to serve cold a cold one but you still haven't acquired your wine chiller stick? Putting it in the refrigerator is nice, but it takes a few minutes before it gets cold.
A chilled wine is a perfect drink for summer. That is why many people are buying chillers to have that cold refreshment. However, you don't always need a those chillers to have those cold drinks. Besides getting a real wine chiller, there are other ways you can do to chill your wine for less than 20 minutes so that you and your guests will be able to enjoy a cold glass while having a nice conversation. Here are some of them:
Bucket of water, ice and salt.
When you put water, ice, and salt into a bucket, you get an improvised wine chiller. Everyone knows that any drink will get cold fast when put into a bucket of ice and cold water, but why put salt? Salt isn't just a condiment or a preservative, it is also a mineral that can reduce water's freezing point. That means it can make water colder without hardening it , that water then chills your wine faster.
Spin it.
Is improvised water, salt, and ice wine chiller still not enough for your favorite bottle to get cold faster? Then get your bucket and spin the bottle in it. You don't have to spin it fast all the time. You'll just waste energy and mess your area. Gentle strokes every couple of minutes is enough to make your wine as chilled as you want it. If you spin the bottle its contents will move, which allows the rest of the wine to come into contact with the cold glass. This chills the wine even quicker . This technique is great on non-sparkling wines, if you do this with champagne, you'll have messy regrets.
Wet towel technique.
If you don't have a bucket to put water and ice on, or you simply don't want to go through all the trouble of spinning the bottle in the bucket, you can just put your wine in the freezer. However, to chill it faster, you can wet a wash clean towel and use it as your wine chiller. How? Just wrap the damp towel around the wine bottle before putting it in the freezer. The towel's dampness holds the cold better making the entire bottle being chilled, and therefore, the contents inside as well.
Chill the wine-glass.
You don't have to focus on the wine and its bottle if you want a cold drink. You can also hasten the chilling process by putting the wine glass inside the fridge.
Remember that smaller amounts of drinks in a glass get cold faster. If you'd prefer , you can pour your wine into individual glasses and put them all in the fridge. When your guests arrive, you can just serve their drinks immediately for their satisfaction.
