CENTRAL HEATING PRICES- what you need to know!
Central heating. We hate to be without it, don't we?
We don't want to shiver with cold during the winter months, all eight of them, so we all demand that we have central heating in our homes.
But heating is expensive; to stay warm we have to pay.
But how much?
These are some of the central heating prices that we need to know.
The main areas of cost for central heating are: the installation of new heating, the cost of radiators, the price of flushing out central heating systems and the cost of running the system to keep us warm.
The cost is going to vary according to the size of your home, how many radiators you have and how often you use your heating.
Let's breakdown some of the main central heating prices.
1. If you are installing a brand new heating system the cost is going to be around £ 2800 to £3200. And that's just for the materials! You need to add on the cost of fitting, which usually weighs in at around £600 to £1200. So,that's a total of approximately £4000. Not cheap is it?
2. The price of radiators ranges from £25.99 for small radiators 600 x 500 x 47 up to £140 for top of the range, column radiators.
3. Central heating prices often include the price of central heating pumps. These are vital and will need to be replaced at some time. The cost of the pump ranges from £40 to £120 and sometimes more, whilst the cost of labour to install is around £120 on average.
4. Central heating prices for running the heating will depend on the size of the building and the fuel that you use to run it. These prices apply to three bedroomed, semi-detached houses which are well insulated. The most expensive is electric which costs about £1850 a year; that's over £150 a month. The cheapest is Gas, run off a condenser boiler, which is less than half that amount at £850. Oil lies somewhere in between with an average price of £1250.
Are these central heating prices going to make you struggle?
There is help in the form of grants for installation through schemes like Warm Front, Nest Fuel Poverty Scheme
So you can see from all the above that central heating prices are certainly not cheap. You just have to make your choice- warm, comfortable house or extra blankets!
