Glow sticks are a lot of fun no matter what age. People often associate these items with a variety of scenarios; these include theme parks, carnivals, outdoor recreational activities, industrial sites, and even for military activities. Most people think that after a certain age, these "toys" are just not fun anymore. But did you know that these light sticks can even be used by adults for fun and games even inside your own home?
You don't have to be some fancy artist in order to get creative with these sticks. With the help of this article, you can turn industrial grade light sticks into something fun to work with. You can even invite friends and family to join in on the excitement.
Here are some awesome ideas that you can try out at home to get the most fun out of these glowsticks.
Glow in the dark light show a.k.a "The Rainbow Fan"
Take a couple of activated glow in the dark sticks and attach them to a ceiling fan or desk fan. Secure the hook to the edge of the fan blade. Make sure to wrap them around the blade as tight as possible so that they do not slip when you turn on the fan. You can use tape to attach the stick to the blade and then provide additional support with cling wrap. Turn off the lights before turning on the fan for a simple yet very entertaining light show right in your own living room.
Glowing chandelier
Make two separate circles using two old coat hangers. As you make the circle, note that one should be at least 2 inches bigger in diameter than the other one. Take your light sticks and begin hooking them onto the bigger circle. Once you have completed the first circle, repeat the same procedure with the smaller one. To hang, use nylon cord to hang the bigger circle first. Then hang the smaller one at least 6 inches right below the first one. Make sure that the sticks are already activated before you hang them up for display.
Glowing balloon display
Fill several balloons halfway with air. Then, place one activated stick inside each balloon before completely filling it up with air. Tie the balloons to a string or leave them on the floor for a glowing balloon display. You can get even more artistic with this project by using different shapes and sizes of balloons.
Glow in the dark lanterns
For this project, you can either use old water bottles or jars. It depends on your choice. First, take a water bottle and spray some frosted paint on the inside. Allow this to dry for about an hour or longer (if needed). When its completely dry, take the sticks and activate them. Place one stick in each bottle. You can place them on your lawn to create a gleaming walkway or in your own backyard for additional lighting.
As you can see, these glow sticks can be used in a lot of different ways, you just need to get a little creative!
