Artist gAtTiNa bRaNd, who resides in Fargo, North Dakota, has made his latest collection of neo-expressionist pop art available for sale on Etsy. Etsy is the world's most trusted online platform for artists and craftspeople. The Etsy shopping network has given hundreds of eclectic artists, who normally have limited means to reach potential buyers, international exposure. Due to its success, artists now have unlimited potential to market and sell goods to a diverse crowd of devotees.

bRaNd was raised in Bozeman, Montana by parents who had a natural inclination for pop and realist art, but who had limited exposure to modern art. At the age of 5, bRaNd's grandmother told him he was an artist. "I do not know of a time when I when I didn't get lots of attention from adults, teachers, and friends for being that person who was always drawing. My mother and father were artistic people too, with a natural ability to create pop art. They were my biggest influence. It was remarkable what they created, living in a small town, and without any knowledge of the explosive pop art scene of the 1960s."

In the early 1990s, bRaNd met two influential women in Montana who illuminated his creative path; Lynne Merrick, a film maker and educator, and Native American artist, Susan Stewart, a member of the Crow Tribe, who also mentored illustrator Edward Hemmingway (grandson of Ernest Hemingway).
In 2001, bRaNd moved to New York. He began to pioneer his own brand of neo expressionism. He studied printmaking and painting for many years and is 100% self-taught.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Born in Bozeman, Montana, neo-expressionist pop artist, gAtTiNa bRaNd uses newspaper and fast food bags to paint, print, and collage his current collection.
bRaNd's love of modern art began at an early age, and eventually led him to New York, where he taught himself printmaking and painting. bRaNd says it is easy to identify the artists who have swayed him: Robert Rauschenberg, Jasper Johns, Andy Warhol, Cy Twombly, Jean-Michel Basquiat, and Sean Star Wars of the international printmakers collective known as the Outlaw Printmakers.

bRaNd is known for creating art pieces full of dynamic and charging color with overriding themes that are simultaneously satirical, politically suggestive, and darkly humorous.

bRaNd has been painting and making art for the last 25 years. He says that he has matured as an artist and has constant ideas about surface and content; that the two hold equal value for him. Currently, he is working in oil, acrylic, spray paint, encaustic, wood cut, and collage. Sometimes he mixes oil paint into acrylic paint, and says, "Wonderful things happen."

The newly launched online gallery on Etsy goes by the artist's moniker, gAtTiNa bRaNd. There are currently several works for sale, and though open for just a few weeks, pieces have begun selling.

bRaNd is known for his satirical invading alien robots, darkly political, yet seemingly happy and colorful, skulls (adorned with dollar signs and the word "coal"), and a line-up of ever-changing existential objets d'art, including, coins, eggs, and keys. No computers or laser printers are used to make his work.
