Motorbikes for Sale
I have always loved bikes
I'm looking around now at motorbikes for sale and Valentino Rossi is my idol, an Italian professional motorcycle racer and multiple MotoGP World Champion, who is one of the most successful motorcycle racers of all time with nine Grand Prix World Championships to his name, seven of which are in the premier class.
He raced with Honda, Yamaha and Ducati.
What bike that is the question
If you've just passed your test in the UK and you're under 21 or chose to take the A2 license, then you're restricted to a bike with a maximum of 33bhp for the first 2 years. It could make more sense to go for a bike that was designed to only produce around 33bhp or less. They cost less to buy and run (leaving you more money to get your bike kit ready), they're be fun to ride and great for learning how to ride your bike, plus there's actually a pretty good selection out there if you're willing to look.
We've listed 4 of my best options here when you're looking for motorbikes for sale.
Suzuki Goose 350
The Goose is a stylish little cafe racer making close to 33bhp, so it's spot on for A2 riders
Kawasaki Ninja 250R
Kawasaki's restyled baby Ninja has brought the 250 class back to life. With a 32.5bhp parallel twin that spins to 14,000 revs, big bike looks, a comfy riding position and sweet handling, it's the perfect 33bhp beast for riders looking to graduate to sports bikes in the long run.
Suzuki DR-Z400
The DR-Z makes 39bhp, meaning restriction is needed... but the power-to-weight ratio should remain almost intact and the DR-Z is a stonking little bike if the off-road/supermoto thing floats your boat
Honda Hornet 250
The Hornet 600 started life as this 250cc Japan-only model, the 250 version has simple timeless styling and the wheels are off the Fireblade of the time. The chunky 180 rear tyre looks great on it and looks really cool. It's a zippy bike though; making 41bhp, so it will need restricting but it shouldn't be a problem. From behind everyone will think you're on a 600...
The legal bit
Before you star looking for motorbikes for sale you need to sort your licence out. You must get a provisional licence and then a compulsory basic training (CBT) certificate to ride on public roads. You must take and pass the theory and motorcycle tests in 2 years. If you don't pass both parts of your practical test within 2 years of taking theory test, then you'll have to start the process again. Most learner motorcycle and moped riders must take compulsory basic training (CBT). You then have to pass your full motorcycle test within 2 years or you'll have to take CBT again.
After you've completed your CBT, you can ride a moped or a motorbike up to 125cc on the road with L plates (L or D plates in Wales) until you pass your full motorcycle test.
You need to book CBT through an approved training body (ATB) - each ATB sets its own fees.
My dream arrives
After looking and looking for motorbikes for sale I finally decided on the Honda Hornet 250, it had great reviews and I asked a few people in the know and it just looks great. It drives spot on and I just keep looking at it. Now when you're looking at motorbikes for sale please take your time and find out as much as you can before you buy.
