Working as a video editor can be both exciting and stressful. The most difficult jobs in editing are those in movies, TV programs and commercials. Creating lyric videos is not as tedious as producing films, commercials or even official music videos. In lyric video production, there are four simple things that you have to ponder on:

Concept

As an editor, you should not be concerned with coming up with a concept for the video but you can always join brainstorming activities. After all, you are going to bring these ideas into life. It is entirely up to you if you want to be part of the pre-production stage or if you would let the others finalize and agree on the concept. Either way, you just have to familiarize with the idea so you can deliver the results properly.

Video clips or images

Most lyric videos only use moving images or video clips. If you are working on lyric video production, make sure that your video clips are not corrupted or compressed. The same level of cautiousness should also be observed when you are working with images. As much as possible, you would want a clear copy of the files. Do not settle with pixelated images as this will significantly affect the quality of your work. Always check the materials given to you.

Font style, font size and font color

Basically, the most important element in your video is the text. It is what you should focus on.

First, you should select the font style. If the song is lively and upbeat, you should opt for fun font styles. But if the song is slow or sad, you should use more formal styles.

As to the font color, you should always choose a color that would be contrasting with your background. Keep in mind that contrasting colors makes it easier for people to read the text. This is crucial because in fast-paced music videos; it is important to let your audience understand the text as fast as possible.

As to the font size, it is up to your discretion as to what size is appropriate for a particular frame.

4. Timing

And most importantly, you should work on the timing of the lyrics. You should always remember that in lyric video production, the lyrics and the song should synchronize impeccably.

You should not just be able to come up with good font styles and movements for the lyrics. As an editor, you should also make sure that they are coordinated with the song. The most important element you have to consider is the frames per second upon which the video would be playing. This will require a lot of work and patience but as soon as you get used to it, it would not be as challenging.
