Keeping your weight within the normal range for the longest time may be as hard as starting to lose weight from scratch. This is because your actions seem to have become defined by a set of numbers called BMI or body mass index. Anything below a BMI of 18 is underweight and anything above 24.99 is overweight or obese. Some people, after some time, may not be able to sustain their enthusiasm in maintaining their weight.

The question here is "Until when should I do this?" Well, there is no definite answer for this. You just have to do it for as long as you can. Unfortunately, many people do not get to savor their normal weight for a long time because they revert to their old habits. Maintaining their weight within the normal range can be a tedious task, but it can also be rewarding. How can you keep yourself from gaining more weight and reduce it, instead? Here are some tips:

Find other ways to relieve your stress aside from eating. One of the risk factors for eating a lot and gaining weight is the presence of stressors. When you are stressed, there are only a few things that you can do: first, you can go to sleep. Second, you can drink with your friends. Third, you can eat a lot. The more you are stressed, the more your body uses up energy; thus, the more you feel fatigued. This leads to the vicious cycle of eating- stress- eating- stress and disruption of your healthy diet.

Always keep your reasons with you. One of the simplest, yet the hardest ways to sustain your motivation and go on with your healthy diet plan or exercise regimen is to remind yourself of the reasons why you are doing such. In these circumstances, it is better to take a step back and rethink of all your reasons. If one of your reasons is the fear of becoming super obese, then you might want to keep a picture of an extremely obese person in your wallet.

Stay away from foods that are not good for you. Resisting temptations is one of the most difficult things to do. Hence, it is advisable that you avoid getting into this problem. Stay away from those unhealthy foods that you really like. If you used to buy cupcakes from the bakeshop near your house, then you can probably go the other way whenever you get off for work. This helps you stick to your healthy diet plan.

Keep track of your progress. One of the most motivating of all is seeing how good you have been doing this whole time. This is the same as when you are trying to lose weight. You can keep a record of your previous weight to give you a clue as to how much weight you have lost or gained, or whether you have been successful in maintaining your weight within the normal range. You can also identify factors that have led to your failure and success so that you know which habit to retain and which ones to throw out.
