Tips to Successful Webinar Trainings

Webinar is a term coined to refer to online dynamic and active discussions, seminars and trainings. Webinar training is conducted in the same way as seminars in a real-world setting are done. So you have to make sure that there is a presenter, facilitator and audience to make it possible.

Introduction

Webinar training is conducted by a number of people, not just one. Oftentimes, there are three people involved: Organizers, presenters, and assistants. Each participant assumes different roles.

Organizers or facilitators are said to be the spearhead of the webinar. They supervise everything from the planning, determining topics, recruiting speakers to reaching out the participants. They are also the ones responsible for any malfunction and problems that may arise during the webinar training.

On the other hand, presenters/speakers are considered the master of the discussion. Their main concern is to understand the topic and help the participants understand the topic as well. They are also tasked to provide individual copies for each participant (if necessary). Meanwhile, assistants are responsible for assisting the organizer in all his tasks before and during the webinar.

Process

prepare everything as early as possible. You have to check everything from the topic to all the technical settings. Make sure you are ready thirty minutes before the schedule and have your participants logged in fifteen minutes before the start of the Webinar training. Do not start immediately but do the following instead:

Roll call/check who will participate in the seminar from the organizers down to the participants and remind them about the scheduled time for the Webinar.
- Re-check your internet connections and make sure the participants can hear you and vice-versa.
- Get your recording tools prepared.

Keep everybody involved and active. Do not dominate the Webinar by doing all the talking the entire time. As presenter, you are assigned to focus on the topic so leave any technical problems to the organizers and assistants. There are three things that you have to remember to achieve this: First, make your voice loud and articulate but do not speak too fast. Second, make sure you have less background noise so that they will hear you clearly. Third, keep the discussion going and avoid dead-air as much as possible.

After the Webinar, make sure to prepare something where participants can give their feedbacks. Provide a record copy of the seminar as well or a summary, then send a follow-up and thank you message to the participants. This will serve as a survey of the effectiveness of your Webinar as well. Include in your survey the number of participants present during the training and those who have just registered. Keeping track of the number of participants for each Webinar is good to know if participants increase or decrease in your succeeding trainings.

Online seminars give organizers the opportunity to reach a large number of audiences who are geographically divided and financially incapacitated to travel. Webinar training can be used whether for educational training, sharing of information, or advertising services/products. This strategy, together with video marketing, is one of the newest trends in internet marketing.
