Industrial epoxy flooring would be a good option when applying coating to concrete pavements. This type of flooring can be made beautiful, and it is durable against chipping and abrasion, or from staining with oil or gasoline. Although their colors may be a bit limited, however, these epoxy flooring usually comes with free kits that contain paint flakes, and these can be used in creating decorative finishing touches.
Before doing the epoxy flooring, however, it is best to make sure that the surface is free from dirt, debris, or any type of element. Make sure the cracks and potholes are already sealed, and that the surface is being made clean by the use of hot water and soap used for scrubbing. There are industrial epoxy flooring that come with a free concrete cleaner, and there are also instructions in the kit on how to clean the surface area before applying the coating. The issue here is to make sure that the surface is relatively clean and free from debris before applying the epoxy coating. Once it is ready, mix Part A into Part B. Stir for a few minutes, and allow it to stand for about 30 minutes under normal temperature (60-70F). It is important to remember not to mix the decorative paint flakes at this point in time. Apply the first coating and let it dry before applying the second coating on the floor pavement. There are epoxy coatings that can get dry in about 24 hours, while others can be made to dry faster or slower. Make sure the coating is dry before applying pressure on the surface.
Industrial epoxy flooring are usually made durable, whichever brand or type of epoxy flooring is being used. There are a number of additives combined with it, such as ceramic, aluminum oxide, and silica sand, and each of these can create a variety of resistance and durability characteristics, depending on the material of the additive. Others include fiberglass reinforcing as an additive, since it increases flexural strength and durability, as it turns into a chemical-resistant pavement. Thus, the only difference between one epoxy coating and another rests on many aspects, such as chemical resistance, viscosity, speed of catalyzation, and deterioration from ultraviolet light. However, a standard industrial epoxy flooring can usually endure the more common household substances, such as dirt, sand, and debris.
The weakness of an industrial epoxy flooring rests on ultraviolet light, under which it can minimize its capacity to dry out of the resin, thereby lessening the flexibility of the polymer. In the end, it can lead to cracking, yellowing, or a discoloration of the resin. However, in spite of the fact that it can dry out, it will not affect the durability of the epoxy flooring until a decade has passed, when it becomes brittle and begins to crack. More so, there are other things that can be damaging to an epoxy flooring, aside from ultraviolent light. This includes fluorescent lighting, which leads to discoloration of the epoxy resins, as well as metal halide, sodium vapor, and incandescent light. All these are actually related to the light source, and it disturbs the flexibility of the resins mainly as an effect of the intensity of the lights, under which they may go for the use of UV stable epoxy resin. Epoxy floors differ in price and quality, and it is important that the user understands the chemical reactions in the resin, to make sure that the investment would be less expensive.
