Author Name: Douglas Chandler Graham
Murder is always a traumatic experience for the people that know the victim and the kin of the victim but when it happens in a small town the entire population is involved. Everyone wonders if the murderer might be the person living in their neighborhood or someone they know that is close to them. Suspicions lead to speculation and that leads to trouble.
Ridgemont, the fictional town in Doug Graham's novel Hairdresser, is just such a town. Everyone knows everyone and many are connected by kinship. When the town's leading citizen that employees most of the working people in the town, is found dead, and snow covered, in the parking lot of the town's favorite watering hole, Lillies, it's assumed he was just drunk, was and fell froze to death. This changed when the medical examiner found the back of his skull had been crushed from being hit with a heavy instrument of some kind. The mystery gets deeper when someone finds a note on the floor of Lillie's "hit with a shovel.".
Just down the road, the only beauty shop in the town becomes the meeting spot that the owner, Shellie, cultivates for her own financial and libido needs. Shellie happens to be the town's most beautiful woman so the men she encounters are not much of a challenge leading them to do her bidding. The problem arises when she falls in love with one of these men and he is married. Not only married but looking for other conquests beyond Shellie. Oh, did I mention he was the pastor that was recently sent to the town to grow the church membership. His wife was six months pregnant.
These two situations make Hairdresser a must read novel. Three hundred pages that will keep you interested in trying to get ahead of the story but the twists and turns each take will surprise you. Read the several reviews on Amazon if you would like to see what other people think of Hairdresser.
Hairdresser is deeply discounted on Nook and Kindle as well as the hard copies on Amazon and Barnes and Noble. The EBook can be bought at the publishers, Outskirts Press. This is Graham's third novel. The first was Smoke and Murders with a sequel titled Three Trailers Down. These two were written as fiction from the murders of a family in Vinton, Virginia in 1994.
