Dirt bikes are almost similar to motorcycles, except that they are intended for fun and not for commuting. They are specifically created with sand, dirt and muddy terrains in mind. Instead of the typical pavement, dirt bikes are designed to pass by dirt, hence the name.
Lighter than the regular motorcycles, dirt bikes are made without any pairings or flush extras and are programmed to boost their speed and performance when on trails. Dirt bikes such as the 200cc dirt bikes don't have any additional comforts such as passenger backrests or soft seats.
What else makes up the 110, 125, and 200cc dirt bikes, among others?
Engine
Dirt bikes are often classified according to their categories for engine displacement, i.e. the volume of both air and fuel drawn in one single cycle. The displacement is calculated in cubic centimeters, thus the "cc" in dirt bikes' names for easy identification.
The dirt bikes are powered by either a two-stroke engine or four-stroke engine. The two-stroke engine combines gas and oil simultaneously, while the four-stroke uses oil just like the usual automobile.
The motorcycle's cylinder configuration alters its capability for engine performance, and the bike's central area houses the engine, fuel tank, transmission, and the oil reservoir (used for lubrication).
Chassis
After eliminating everything from the 200cc dirt bikes, what will be left is the basic frame plus the suspension attached. This frame is the bike's structural support; it's made of either aluminum or steel. This frame carries the weight of all stuff attached on the dirt bike.
An important part of a dirt bike is the suspension, and it's made of the following parts:
Swing arm - the bike part that is attached horizontally to the bike's rear axle
Rear shocks - found under the rider, and is attached to the rear axle through the swing arm
The front suspension is made possible by the front forks that stretch from the bike's front to the instrument panels, then to the front axle and are often adjustable for rebound and compression.
Wheels
Dirt bikes have specially made tires as they're expected to deal with bad terrain.
Tires for hard terrain have soft rubber with tread blocks that are closely spaced.
Tires for soft terrain have a paddle-type or scoop pattern for its tread blocks made of hard rubber.
- Sand tires have a paddle tread that's widely spaced for the best grip.
- Also available are intermediate tires that are in between the hard and soft kinds.
- Brakes
Like any other vehicle, dirt bikes must have good brakes to handle trials of trail riding and motocross. Every wheel has its own brakes, such as:
Disc brakes - a pad is applied to the brake's outside part to make the bike slower
Drum brakes - a stopping pressure is placed on the axle
't run if its parts are faulty, and the same goes for the dirt bike. A dirt bike with good parts will allow you to make the most out of your riding experience, as well as the dirt bike's strength and durability.
