The latest trivets are also multi-functional. They can serve as coasters, jar opener, or a mitt - or any other purpose that may require heat resistance. As silicone itself is non-toxic, it is safe to be used even when it comes to tools with direct contact with food.

Designs need not suffer either. There are literally over thousands of designs to choose from. These silicone trivets are just as decorative and ornamental as the ancient ones. They can also be used to complement the general look of the counter. From colors, patterns, to general prints, there is always a design that would fit anybody's personality.

Ancient or the three-legged trivets may not be easy to find now. Nonetheless, as to functionality and aesthetics, the modern trivets can also be at par with the conventional ones. Whether to collect them or simply using them as intended, it is always practical to have trivets in the kitchen.
