I have a question for you today. Are you building your network marketing business because you need money? Almost everyone gets into network marketing because they need extra money, that's a fact of life. But, today I had an epiphany, you know one of those crazy, life changing observations. Forget the money! Now before you chock me off as completely crazy, read on a little further.
If we approach our potential clients from the viewpoint that we need money, that we need to make a sale, we will push our prospects away from us and we are going to really struggle building our business. Even if we "mask" those feelings, try to hide them away, they will seep through and permeate all we do. Our prospects will smell us coming and run as fast as they can. Our family will disown us and our friends will quit answering the phone.
Network marketing is a people to people business. It's people helping people. Forget the money. Focus on the people, help the people. The more your help people achieve their goals, the easier it will become for you to achieve your goals.
People don't buy from companies, they buy from people. They buy from people whom they have grown to know, like and trust. Nobody trusts a salesman. So you have to project an image of caring for and helping your prospects achieve their goals in life. You can only do this if you truly care about the people and not about the money.
Follow the system, trust the process, help the people and the money will follow.
Once again, if we focus strictly on the money we are going to push people away from us. We are going to come across as needy and unsuccessful and no one wants to follow an unsuccessful business person into business.
If we want to grow up to be the leader that people are looking for, we must project success. We want to project confidence in our future, not fear of the future. We want to project the willingness to help, to do what is in the best interest of our clients and prospects.
So once again, if we come through as needing to make that sale or we won't be able to pay our bills, we are going to alienate our prospects and struggle to achieve the success we deserve and want. It's not about the money, it's about the people. I believe it was Jim Rohn who said that, "To be successful, all we need is to help as many people as possible to reach their goals."
So forget the money and ask, "Who can I help today."
