This process is defined as the restoration of the bathtub's surface to a condition that is like new. Because the only thing that will be changed is the dreary appearance of the tub's surface itself, the costs for this are much lower. One will only pay a maximum of $650 for one process alone, and some professionals even charge $100 per hour for those who want quick turnaround times but efficient results. There will be no incurred costs on the replacement tub, the demolishing of the old tub, plumbing services, replacement tiles and tile setting, and miscellaneous carpentry expenses.

There is also a significant differentiation between replacing the entire bathtub and bathtub refinishing. For the former, seven to ten full days is required for completion. For the latter, only one to four days is required for completion.

But how does the entire refinishing process work? First, any cracks, chips, or holes found in the tub have to be sealed with putty. Second, the old finish of the tub has to be removed using acid etchers. Third, a surface primer has to be applied. Finally, the desired new surface can be painted over the primer, with a protective top coat to match.

The refinishing of the tub also works if the entire tub is filled with dirt that even ordinary cleaners cannot do their magic, or the family does not have enough time to remove said dirt. With this, the lifespan of the bathtub will greatly increase by at most fifteen years.

A person can even do bathtub refinishing by himself. All he needs are extra-strength cleaners, abrasive pads, wet sandpaper, a mixture of epoxy and paint, paintbrushes or paint rollers, and caulking material to seal the edges of the tub.
