One of the problems people have with their dogs is that they tend to be noisy. Although they can produce a variety of noises such as whines and whimpers, most people seem to be particularly annoyed by a dog's bark. Why do dogs bark exactly? The truth is there are numerous reasons why. Though they may sound the same to us, dogs' barks actually come in a wide range which depends on what they are going through. One reason is that some dogs can become bored: not all can tolerate 8 hours of doing nothing while waiting for his/her owners to come home. A bored dog's bark is usually repetitive and lacks in motivation as it only does it out of loneliness.

Sometimes, trained dogs may have short and imperative barks near your door. This may indicate that they need to relieve themselves outside. This can be accompanied by sniffing the ground, pacing, and whining. Similar to the bark for wanting to relieve them, a short, urgent bark is also used by dogs that are hungry or excited by the upcoming food. This is accompanied however by tail swinging, jumping, and an open, panting mouth.

There is also a special kind of bark called a caution bark: this is done by dogs that are trying to intimidate other people or dogs for whatever reason. This can be accompanied by a pointed tail, ears pointing forward or back, and a leaning stance towards the target.

Understanding your dog is important in house training. Puppy or not, a dog still needs to be trained and it is never too late for you and your neighbors' sake. Sometimes, dogs are really misunderstood and you can't blame them for acting that way.
