Success In Network Marketing: Be An Online Networker

I want to talk about a new term that is being tossed around these days. It is called the online networker. You know traditionally network marketing has been a belly to belly business. You had to physically meet people. You met in a coffee shop, or someone's home. You had hotel room meetings but you physically met.

Since the advent of the internet, some networkers have tried to change the model completely and do everything online. You see ads out there that tell say you don't have to call your leads, the funnel will do all the work for you.

Well, you know what? To put it mildly that's B.S. It is still a people to people business. You still have to talk to people. And so the modern network marketer may use the internet to help generate leads and to help push the business forward. Thus he or she is called an online networker. But he or she still ends up talking to potential clients, communicating, but we can use the technology to help

There really are four things the online networker does. The first thing is we collect. That is the initial act of meeting someone and we can use all the technology to do that. The next thing is we do is capture their information. Much like getting a business card in the good ole days, we can now capture names and e mail addresses with autoresponders and other forms of technology. These two steps are much like chatting someone up in a coffee shop and getting their business card. It is just the online networker does it all on the internet and through social media.

But now we must communicate. Again the technology can help us out here. We no longer have to travel to a coffee shop or someone's home to have a meeting with them and make a presentation. We can use a Google hangout or an online webinar and I can be in your living room even if you are on the other side of the planet, but I still have to communicate with a potential client or business partner.

And the final thing is, of course, the close. It is important to approach this not as me, the networker closing you, the potential partner but rather you closing yourself. I simply present the opportunity to you and let you decide whether or not it is a fit. And if it is not, I stay in touch until one day, maybe it is.

So the close has to be in your time, not my time. We don't close you. We present you an opportunity and let you decide whether that opportunity is right for you at this time in your life.

So once again, the modern online networker does four things, collect, capture, communicate and close. Some people add aa 5th and that is consistency. Remember, it is still a people to people business. Now go become an effective online networker!
