This is the third article in a four part series discussing Success in Network marketing and the four biggest fundamental mistakes that new network marketers make. Today's topic is, "Go For No"! Your sponsor may not have told you, but network marketing or multilevel marketing is a numbers game. It is statistical in nature. For every 10 people you share your new opportunity with 8 or 9 of them will say "no". So the best way to insure that you get some "yes'es" is to go for " no".
If you make it a daily habit to get say 10 no's every day, you are bound to get some yes'es and you will build a team fairly quickly and achieve early success.
In their incredible book, "Go For No" the authors, Richard Fenton and Andrea Waltz, describe the process and mindset that lets us become accustomed to the notion that getting a bunch of "no's" leads to success and not failure. Every "no" we get puts us one step closer to the next "yes" that will inevitably come if we just keep asking.
Many times the new networker gives up early in the game because they didn't expect the "no's". They were told by their sponsor or upline that "this product sells itself. Everyone you know will want to get involved. Just go show it to them". And so with unbridled enthusiasm, the newbie charges off into their warm market with no armor and no protection against the early no's. They see it as rejection, take it personally, let their egos get bruised and quit prematurely before the magic happens.
The road to network marketing success is littered with bodies who gave up after 4 or 5 "no's" and didn't stick around long enough to build a team.
The reality is that network marketing is a simple business but it is a hard business. What do I mean by that? Simple! It is a simple business because what we do is simple, we expose our opportunity to as many people as possible. It is a hard business for the same reason. We must show our opportunity to a lot of frogs in order to find a prince. And even when we do find a prince, he (or she) may be a lazy prince and expect to amass a fortune without having to do any real work. Wrong!
Building a network marketing business takes real work, time and effort and sometimes thick skin. One of the secrets to early success in network marketing is to "go for no"!
