Success In Network Marketing: Don't Talk Too Much

This is the second article in a series of four articles about the most fundamental mistakes that new network marketers make. To a success in network marketing you need to avoid these mistakes. Mistake number two is don't talk too much!

What do I mean by that? Well in the beginning, new networkers have a tendency to feel the need to explain their new found product or service and answer every question. Don't do that.

The company you have joined up with has developed marketing collateral for you to use. This may include cd's, dvd's brochures etc. Whatever it is, the company has employed professionals and made a considerable investment to insure you have good, professional looking material that do a better job of explaining the product or service than you can. Use the company supplied material.

So for whatever reason, perhaps some insecurity, when a new networker gets in front of a possible client, he/or she tends to talk too much. When asked about the product or service, they tend to try and explain it and answer all the questions.

No! Don't do that, don't talk too much! Be the messenger. Let the company do the talking. Instead of saying to your potential client, "I have something I think you will like, let me tell you about it" Say, " I have a great cd for you to watch. Can I show it to you now"? Then sit back and shut up! If the client asks a questions say something like, "The answer is right here, let me show you".

There are several advantages to this approach. One is it is impersonal. You are the messenger so if your potential client doesn't like what he or she sees, they can't as easily draw you into a defensive position. You are the messenger.

Second, your client is likely to interrupt you multiple times but less likely to interrupt the cd that is playing. So they are more likely to get the whole story and not fragments and isolated pieces.

Third it is duplicable. In other words your new potential distributor can do the same thing with little or no training.

So success in network marketing depends on following several rules. One of these is, "don't talk too much". It has often been said that if your lips are moving, you should be pointing to a company supplied piece of literature, a cd, or a dvd or some other piece of company supplied marketing collateral. Let the company do the talking. In other words, to be a success in network marketing, "Don't talk too much"! Listen More and you will become a success in network marketing quickly.
