Jimmy Kimmel, the television host of the late night talk show "Jimmy Kimmel Live", which is being aired on ABC, mentioned the topic about Rainbow Looms. He was also a guest in The Ellen Show where they also discussed the looms. He mentioned how kids are really interested in looms. Jimmy explained a bit about kids using rubber bands on peg boards and making looms instead of iPods.
He suddenly became interested in the latest trend of loom creativity. Jimmy told the story in The Ellen Show on how he managed to ask people to make him a loom suit. Jimmy narrated, "I want to wear a loom suit, a suit made fully of loom jewelry. And I asked children and the parents watching the show to get to work on this for me. And I turned America into a huge sweatshop."
Last January, children from all over America spared time to make him loom patches to be added to his loom suit. Some schools and learning centers instructed the students to make the loom jewelry for Jimmy Kimmel's loom suit. Parents also made their kids to work on Jimmy's loom suit. According to some videos and letters from the children, they have no idea who Jimmy Kimmel is but they are still making his loom suit.
More than 3,000 looms were sent to his television show. Jimmy's loom suit needed a lot of rainbow loom refills. He even read a message from a kid saying that his mother would not want to buy that many rainbow loom refills just for his suit.
Lots of videos and pictures show children at their homes, schools, and learning centers making the part of the loom suit for Kimmel. There was one video of a school wherein they gave the children many rainbow loom refills to be able to finish the loom suit. Imagine, how may rainbow loom refills could they have bought?
The finished product was Jimmy's loom suit which has a loom coat, loom necktie, and loom pants. His suit was a multicolored loom suit with different patterns and an owl shaped loom at the back of the pants. All of which are made from rainbow loom refills. The children made this amazing loom suit possible.
After wearing his loom suit on air, he donated it to help children's cancer. The loom suit was set on bid and was won by the Michigan inventor of the hot toy. The bidding for the loom suit will help raise money to benefit the MaxLove project which helps the families of children with cancer.
Max Wilford, a 7-year old boy with a rare form of brain cancer, was invited to Jimmy Kimmel's late night talk show. His classmates and other students from his school were trying to make the longest Rainbow loom chain in his honor. Jimmy donated the "suit of the loom" to help this young boy fight his cancer. He also surprised him by letting him meet Iron Man on his show. This was a very touching experience for the Max.
