While the loss of 13 lives to GM's failure to recall vehicles is very tragic, it begs the question of how many vehicles experienced a crash that either injured the occupants of the GM car, or the other car and how many cars were damaged because of this. Also how many lives have forever been changed or effected by GM's failure to protect not only their customers, but the motoring public.
Most traffic accidents fortunately don't end in a loss of life, but there is personal injuries that require a trip to the doctor or the hospital. Also there is property damage, which requires a trip to the court, points on the license of the driver, as well as higher insurance premiums. This begs the question"How big is the civil litigation for GM going to be with this?"
I hope that many of you have been following the news of GM's failure to recall vehicles in a timely manner as that shows you care about the vehicles on the raod not only that you drive, but that share the road with you. From the testimony of Mary Barra, the new GM CEO, NHTSA testimony and revealing documents this looks like just the "tip of the iceberg".
Mary Barra said on Friday April 11, 2014 that she wants to change the culture at GM to one that cares about the consumer. But if you read the article recently posted at Straigh Talk Automotive's website titled "Has GM really changed?", I think you will be surprised. The author presents many pieces of evidence and supplies you links to further investigate for yourself.
In that article the author discusses what Mary Barra failed to tell the public, re-examines Bob Stewart's comments about Intellectual Property rights and Chinese quality.
The author then presents some rather compelling evidence that this new GM is not really any different from the old GM.
He offers two videos, one of which is the just released promotional video of the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06, a comparison of the top 3 recognized USA car manufacturers safety performances in comparison to a new China made sedan. There is some very startling and frightening information from Ludwig Maximillans Universitat Munchen, as it relates to the safety of the new Dupont Honeywell R1234yf refrigerant being used in USA vehicles by most major carmakers.
I hope I haven't given away too much information about everything he presents as you really must see it for yourself. At the end of the article he asks "Does this sound to you like GM has changed?" What is your opinion?
In the resource box is a link to the article I mention as well as a link to their site where you will find other articles and reviews.
