Ectomorphs have to do it the normal way – by going to the gym and eating a lot of food. If they want to learn how to build lean muscle, then the first thing they have to remember is that they have to work harder than everyone else. • You have to eat a lot of food. First, it's important to coordinate with a trainer and tell him that you are an ectomorph so he can design a special workout plan for you. You will probably notice that in the routine that the trainer will give you, there will be less cardio and more weight training involved. You already burn enough calories naturally, plus lifting weights will also burn calories. Not only that, your body's metabolic rate will increase if you start weight training thus leading you to lose more calories.
• Have an ample amount of rest. Spread out your rest days throughout the week to make sure that you are giving your body enough time to recuperate. You don't have to get carried away and start going to the gym daily. Though it may seem counterproductive, you also have to limit your time in the gym. Overtraining or lifting weights for more than an hour and a half every session will have adverse effects. This will result in the vulnerability of your immune system, over fatigue, and even injuries.
Another thing to consider is adjusting your sleeping patterns. It is important for a person who's trying to build lean muscle to get the right amount of sleep. Remember: it is during sleep that your body rebuilds bigger and stronger muscles, and not while in the gym.
With these things in mind, nothing is impossible. You just have to work hard and set a goal for yourself. Don't be afraid to ask help from the experts and to stay consistent. It might take longer than the normal person, but with determination, you will get there.
