Diet consists of a set of planned course of eating and drinking with an aim to follow a certain lifestyle. People nowadays stick to a certain diet for a particular purpose. Some want to lose weight while others wish to gain weight.
The first example of a good diet is the three-hour diet which involves eating small portions of food every three hours. The advantage of the three-hour diet is that followers of it has the freedom to choose whatever type of food they want. The only restriction in this is the amount of food consumption on a certain time interval.
Another popular method is the Atkins diet. This focuses on the importance of consuming more lean meat and vegetables that are low in starch. Atkins diet prohibits simple carbohydrates such as sugar, simply because consuming fewer amounts of carbohydrates effectively burns fat.
One may also consider the blood type diet which has separate dietary schedules based on the person's blood type. This diet philosophizes that each blood type digests food differently. It also believes that eating foods that are not suitable for your blood type may lead to poor metabolism.
After six diet or the Six o'clock diet is also regarded to be effective when you want to lose weight . This is popularized by a former Filipino Olympic swimmer named Christine Jacob after revealing her stunning figure. The rule is to enjoy all the food that you want to eat before six o'clock in the evening. Beyond that time, a person is prohibited to consume food anymore.
The After Six Diet is seen to be logical because majority of the foods we eat during the day are nearly burned due to some rigorous activities such as walking and physical tasks we do during the day. It also obeys the golden rule of diet in which requires us to eat our breakfast as this is our primary source of energy for the whole day.
There is also a type of diet which is designed for those who want to gain weight and build pronounced muscles. This is called as the Twenty Times Diet. The rule here is to simply multiply your weight in pounds by twenty, and this shall give you the amount in kilocalorie per day you need to effectively gain weight.
But some diets are affected by a variety of factors such as religious beliefs. Buddhist Diet is one of these belief-based diets. This strictly obeys the concept of vegetarianism based on the Five Percepts which is in accordance to their teachings. Another example is the Islamic dietary law which is followed by Muslims. This only allows them to eat food that is halal or food which is allowed under the Islamic law. The Islamic dietary law prohibits alcohol, pork and meat from an animal which is not killed through Islamic method.
These are just some of the popular diets that you may want to consider. There is nothing wrong in getting on a diet as long as you know yourself that it does not harm you. The bottom line of these is to maintain one's health and to live a healthy lifestyle.
