People who are vehicle accident victims, no matter how small the accident's scale is, all understand the necessity of getting out of the vehicle as fast as they possibly could. And when pressed for time, they also understand well enough the necessity of having a vehicle emergency escape tool close at hand. Aside from cutting the seat belt in record time, the emergency tool is also equipped with an auto glass breaker that can be used to smash a portion of the car's window so the driver can get out real fast.
An auto glass breaker works in the same way as a regular hammer would. The main difference between the two is the size, with the glass breaker designed as a compact tool that can be hung on the car's key chain or fit into a car's front storage compartment. The hammer, on the other hand, does not offer any portability options whatsoever, and its weight is not easy to heave even with the adrenaline rush that comes from an emergency situation.
The auto glass breaker can be utilized through the following steps:
• get the breaker from its storage place.
• Take out the cutter from the tool and cut the seat belt. Cutting the belt saves more time than trying to release it from its clip (which is more often than not jammed during an accident)
• Once free from the belt, attach the glass breaker onto the edge of the car window. Once attached, the tiny hammer on the breaker is released and smashes the glass with enough force to make a small hole. The driver can then smash the glass further to widen the hole and allow him to get out.
One thing to keep in mind though is that a car's front windshield is built from much sturdier material than the glass on the side windows of a vehicle. Because of its size, an auto glass breaker is not strong enough to smash the front windshield and trying to smash it when trapped in an overturned automobile takes a lot of wasted time. Smash the side windows instead since this needs less force and can be broken on the first try.
Most emergency tools not only come with a glass breaker and a belt cutter, but are also outfitted with a flashlight with LED lights. This means that the tool is not only useful in daytime road emergencies, but also in the dark of the night. The flashlight, the belt cutter, and the auto glass breaker would all be very useful in the case of a sunken car as well. Since light cannot penetrate the deep recesses of the sea or a lake, the flashlight can light up the inside of the car so that the driver can cut his seat belt and smash the window before he drowns to death.
Although most people prefer not to think about getting into an accident, taking a few safety precautions wouldn't be all that bad. Keeping emergency tools in the car and taking time to learn how these tools, even just the auto glass breaker, would mean the difference between life, death, or serious injury.
