Blinking emergency lights may also be found on some models, allowing for an easy way to grab attention during times of distress. The radio speakers may in themselves be used for a siren feature that can be used to call for help. These features are especially useful when one is injured, trapped, or lost in an unknown place. A USB port that charges your other electronic gadgets such as cellphones is also available. All this comes in a tough case, geared to make the emergency radio endure in situations where your conventional radio receiver would have long given up.

Of course, an emergency radio would be utterly useless if you don't have it with you. Some emergency radios are specifically designed with bright colors that are easy to spot and grab when on the go. These colors even make them fun to use even without any emergencies! With the emergency radio, there's no more reason to be disconnected from the airwaves of information - be it anywhere from a casual picnic with your family, or while encamped en route to a mountain peak.
