Storytelling Marketing is nothing new to most of us. Stories are something all of us was raised going to sleep. Maybe you really wanted a narrative... or perhaps just didn't wish to check out bed. Who knows? But the stories we heard sold something to us - even back then. Some sold the lessons of excellent manners or playing well with other, and a few sold ideas about adventure and curiosity. But make no mistake, all stories have something to sell.
And, invariably, we all had some relative who was (or is) an incredible story teller, spinning tales no matter what the tough challenges they faced when these were you age... "When I was a child, we needed to trudge up a two mile hill every morning in getting wet from rain, with none umbrellas, or shoes!" Perhaps these tales weren't totally true, however they had impressions on your young minds, and kept us eager to hear more.
This is the idea behind effective storytelling marketing as well. Marketers have realized, eventually, that stories connect with consumers more effectively than the rest on the market...
Stories are amazingly effective at helping us remember things, by giving a context (the story plot) to hold on to a lesson. So if you need to get someone to recollect your product or service, framing it in the context of a story will assist tremendously. Stories don't focus on the aspects of what you are selling as much as they deal with how they will improve someone's life, or cause them to be create more positivity in their lives in the world, or solve their problem if perhaps they owned exactly what you're selling.
And stories help in a different way too... they can be shared and retold in a fashion that a brochure, or newspaper ad, or catalog cannot. They're brilliant marketing tools for today's world, crammed with social and video communication. Stories are classified as the hub of Facebook, Google Hangouts, and much of that which we find on YouTube.
Usually, stories engage consumers minds and subconsciously sell things that traditional advertising in past years did never do today. Meaning that, storytelling marketing is a vital component to the ways we do business today.
