People, you, whine a lot. What do we moan about the most?
We complain that we are not able to get sufficient rest. We whine that we are already tired when we wake up. We complain if anyone wants to bother us before we drink our first cup of coffee in the morning.
We likewise moan that we work way too much to make enough money, that there is not 25 hours in a day, that we do not get everything done that we thought we would.
We never actually stop and document the exact length of time we really sleep, or the amount of time we actually work.
You'll be shocked to find out that you both work less time than you thought, and you sleep less time than you thought you slept.
A study by researchers from the University of Chicago conducted a study to learn what is the truth about our primary complaints, about the time we spend actually sleeping, and the time we spend, really working.
The participants of the research study were women 38 and 50 years old. The participants were volunteers. The participants were outfitted with a monitor, a sensitive motion detector was put on the wrist, that the subjects were wearing continuously, for 24 hours a day.
The data obtained from the wrist-monitors, consisted of real data showing how much time the subjects slept, how much time they were awake in bed before and after sleep. That data then was compared with the written logs each participant took outlining the exact same data.
The results were rather surprising.
Most of the individuals spent more time doing work, or doing stuff, than sleeping.
Beyond that we discovered that Caucasian women sleep longer than the African American women.
White women slept a typical 6 hours and 42 minutes a night. They went to sleep faster, they fell asleep in about 13 minutes. The total time they spent in bed was around 8 hours. they reported a better quality of sleep overall.
Black women slept an hour and a half less than the white women, only 5 hours and 6 minutes a night. It also took them longer, 36 minutes to fall asleep, They spent seven hours in bed and had more troubled, less restful sleep.
It is clear that getting more sleep boosts your performance at work, both your ability to think, and your ability to make substantially less errors whether it's dexterity, or accuracy in thinking.
It was also discovered that people with better finances slept the longest a night, while individuals with financial worries slept the minimum ... which makes sense. People who have more money may have fewer problems, or they may have more say over their sleep environment and what time to go to bed.
What was first, the chicken or the egg ? did they get rich because they got more time to sleep, or did they get to sleep more because they had more money?
