Introducing Nora & Naomi - Short Stories for Children

I just thought I should let you know about the new collection of short stories for children that I am publishing over the next couple of months.
Episode 1 is already live on Amazon Kindle and is called A New Home for Nora & Naomi.
This first part introduces the two sisters to you and begins the story of how Nora & Naomi come to their new home in the United Kingdom.
There are many other stories scheduled for release very soon, including Episode Two that tells of their flight to freedom from their war-torn homeland.
These publications are suitable for everyone and give snapshots of childhood that anyone should relate to, especially those who have found it necessary to settle in a new country, with a new family, for whatever reason.

4. Chapter 1 �¢ï¿½ï¿½ The Arrival

Nora and Naomi sat together in the back of the car, holding each other�¢ï¿½ï¿½s hands and holding on to the hope of what might be.
You see, Nora and Naomi had been down this road before. No, not the one leading to this new house, but the one leading to countless other houses along the way.
Throughout their past, they had felt this same excitement, this same anticipation and this same sense of hope too many times before. Yet all too often it had been dashed, only for them to return back down this road, and back to their relentless torment once again.
Squeezing Naomi's hand tighter, Nora faked a cough to attract the attention of their driver, a middle aged woman with greying hair and an all too grey complexion.
"Do you think this house will be different this time?"
"I do hope so my darling" replied Stella, and with a whisper to herself she repeated those words "I do hope so".
The car finally pulled into a driveway and the girls saw the neat lawns, the flowers that were so pretty and the bird table stocked with grain and nuts, which told them how someone here must care so much.
As the car drew to a halt outside of the front door, the two girls looked for what felt like a long while at the sparkling white of the double glazed entrance. They were curious as to who might open the door to greet them and even more curious when the door showed no sign of opening at all.
With a snap back to reality, Stella asked the girls to get out and to take their case from the trunk.
They only had one case between them, it wasn't very large and it wasn't very full either. Nora and Naomi didn't have so many things they could call their own. In fact, the car wasn't theirs either, it belonged to the government they supposed. Just another symbol of the social care that had brought them to yet another house in the hope that one day the girls might find one to call their home.
