When starting out with affiliate marketing, many people find it difficult to get approved by affiliate networks. However, it doesn't have to be that difficult; you can get your application accepted by the majority of the networks out there if you apply the right steps. If you want to start getting accepted rather than rejected by affiliate networks, keep the following principles in mind.
Start With Smaller Networks: If you're just getting into affiliate marketing, then it always makes sense to apply for the smaller networks. Since a well known network may get hundreds of people applying to it every day, they only bother to accept affiliates who can prove they get lots of traffic. You have a much better chance of being approved by a small network, which can't afford to be as fussy. You might as well give it your best effort and apply to a few larger networks, as you might get accepted after all. If you're having trouble getting approved, however, your best bet is to begin at a smaller level where approval is much more likely. The important thing is to get out there and start learning and earning. There are many affiliates that tend to get discouraged and end up wasting time with networks they can come back to later.
Types of Offers You're Interested In: A common question that you get asked by affiliate networks is about what types of offers you're basically interested in promoting. You may have a particular niche in mind, but you're better off not specifying only certain offers. In other words, don't limit your options; tell the affiliate manager that you're interested in any offer that converts well. You're trying to show the network that you don't depend on certain types of offers, but give high priority to offers that convert high. This type of answer makes your acceptance more likely, as it makes you come across as more professional.
No Incentivized Traffic: Most of the networks that you will apply for will ask you about your traffic during the phone interview process. They will want to know the source of your traffic and at the same time if your traffic incentivized or not. It's very important that you clearly state that you never use incentivized traffic, or your application will not be approved. Traffic that's based on incentives doesn't convert well, so affiliate networks don't want this type of traffic at all. This is something that only comes up with CPA based networks, as they're looking for leads rather than direct sales. Since they're only getting leads, they're not interested in getting the names of people who only wanted your free gift. They want prospects that are really interested in the offer and want to take it up. Since they depend on highly targeted visitors, it's essential that you tell affiliate networks that this is what you'll be providing.
You can't start making money as an affiliate until you get accepted into at least one network. Go ahead and start applying what you've learned in the above article to increase your chances of getting accepted.
