A child's toddler stage may be the happiest yet most difficult stage for a mother. This is the stage where they get curious of almost anything they see. Mothers should double their efforts in looking after their children during this part of their lives. There are times when the toddlers fall down and hurt themselves, and mothers always remind them to be strong at all times.
For toddlers to grow strong, doctors advice making them active and letting them play at their own choice. Mothers should only pay close attention to what their toddlers see, hear, and touch, but not restrict them from doing anything unless it would endanger their lives.
Toddler stage is the time when the child develops his emotions and socializes with other people. A number of different achievements occur during this stage, such as considerable growth and the ability to see regardless of distance and to interpret what he sees. A toddler also becomes able to control the largest muscles of his body and be able to perform jumps, running, and walking. In conjunction with the large muscles, a toddler is also able to control his smaller muscles and be able to eat in his own, and manipulate some objects.
It is in the toddler stage where a child begins and develops his speech. He starts to speak specific words often and turns them into sentences as he grows up further. At one year old, the toddler's head is more or less of the same size as his chest. He usually has one to eight teeth visible. He is able to stand, sit, walk, and sleep on his own. A toddler's grip also becomes more stable and strong, and his body clock begins to stabilize letting him sleep for 8 - 10 hours a day and take a nap up to two times a day.
At two years old, toddler's temporary teeth increase up to twelve. His motor functions improve and he is able to follow fast movements without much falls. He enjoys throwing and picking things up and walks with a wider gait . The toddler begins to eat using spoon and drink using a cup. The need for naps also decreases at this stage.
As the toddler grows, all of his abilities stabilize and they are refined as time goes. He begins to indicate if his diaper is wet . And he begins to speak with more words.
The toddler stage is the time when patience on the part of the parents is tested. The toddler does things that may irate his mother. This is also the stage when the toddler begins a "cute" selfishness attitude where claims things as "mine" and shares them with no one.
At the peak of their toddler stage, children begin to see themselves as "separate" persons but see other children as mere "objects" or things. Toddler stage is also the time children learn their toilet activities. Some children also begin their nursery school at the ending part of the toddler stage. A toddler having advanced mind and ability is able to cope with the abilities of children who are one or two years older than him.
Mothers' composure is greatly tested by toddlers. But as mothers, it is their responsibility to be understanding of the young age of their toddlers. This will help them develop into young people with good personalities and attitudes.
