In our space - the internet - we have come to dislike advertisings. We click on them by accident, have our videos covered by them, Facebook is covered with them, even our gmail reads our email content and hits us with tailored ads.

We have become immune to it and do not comprehend that the average person is subjected to over 900 ads per day.

So how do we market ourselves, products, or services to our target market so that we don't get brushed under the rug with the rest of the ads?

Answer: You promote to your target market on their mobile devices with text messages.

Scenario - you are on Facebook, you write a blog post, tweet on Twitter, pin to Pinterest, or whatever, to promote yourself ... and in that act of promotion, you include, "... and if you want more great tips on how to be a leader in your industry,.
simply text MORE LEADS to 72727.

and get all of my best techniques and strategies for becoming a much better internet marketer.".

Much like getting subscribers on your email lists, this is capturing leads on a list too. A list, i.e. a database of top quality leads that want what you have to offer.

This is list building on steroids! I have noticed, with my own lists, that more people engage more, buy more, and do more when you have their phone numbers.

I have a text message marketing campaign that offers 5 FREE tips on making a better video. I place it just about anywhere I promote. Prospects text in, they get their advices, right then and there, and everyone is delighted, especially me.

Now I have their number, which means I can market to them, where ever THEY are, at any time I want.

The next thing I do is blast to them a quick video (1-3 mins - remember, they on their phone) that may give one more cool advice to go along with the first text they received when they opted in.

After that, send a blast to ask them to LIKE me on Facebook and see the cool post and picture I just shared of my dogs at the beach, or a quote from Tony Robbins, or a video I re-posted, and the text includes my FB link.

I send a text trivia that they can answer back to on a cool question I do a little research on, and make it fun to want to answer.

The next blast could be a text survey that asks them what other online marketing methods would they like to know how to do - from me.

I take that data, generate a video series, e-guide, report, etc, and blast that back to them, but they can only get it if they REPLY with their email address.

By the end of the glass this cola, I have given my leads what they want, played a game, got them to like me on FB, got their email address, found out more about them, and given them more of what they wanted.

Ok, cola # 2.
You run an email campaign from your internet marketing strategies for a FREE report on 5 tips for making a more effective video, and you ask for their email address only (making it fair since my text campaign can only ask for a number).

If you are not smart about it, people can give a fictitious email address and get the report. But let's say you are smart about it, and you captured their email address. Now they are on your list, along with 20 other lists.

The open rate of emails hover around 11 % versus 97 % with text messages - but I aberrate ...

Your next blast, which is probably preset, delivers them to a video you cut.
And the next gives them your thought of the day.
And the next tells them to follow you on Facebook.
The next gives sends them to your blog to read an article you wrote 3 months ago, or longer.
And again, another thought of the day ...

Now, what have you attained with this campaign? And I know I was pretty blah with the contents of each blast, but if the open rate sucks, then why would it matter how good the content is?

Unless your titles are superb attention getters, you will find it hard to escalate your open rates. It is hard to find out what your lists wants from you; it's hard to know if they will LIKE you on FB; difficult to know if they went to your YouTube channel to check out your video, etc

. Without a doubt, Cola # 1 wins.

Make no mistake, email marketing is always, and will always be here as a crucial tool for us online marketers. But, having a way to improve this antiquated tool is the key.
