Now I don't usually follow politics much at all....
I mean Australian Politics is in a massive mess right now!
With Tony Abbott being Australia's new Prime Minister, let's hope this next term brings Mose positives the negatives.
I actually vote for an Independent so I can't say I have followed the policies of both major parties that much lately...
That and also the fact that I am currently in Greece lol means that Z don't really care what crap they go on with.
I do think that change is good though and at Rudd and Gillard were both as incompetent as each other...
I'm not going to go off on a massive tangent here though and be all like 'Oh I could have done this better and the better too'
Why?
Well because I think politics is a bit of a weird gig. If you want to get voted in, you have to do what is popular. This just follows on from the economists I learn from...
It is often the case that politicians do what is popular and not what is right.
There are examples everywhere but one big one was leading into the 2010 election.
Both major parties had policies reducing skilled immigration into Australia when the facts clearly show that skilled immigration is good for Australia and our economic growth.
A key emphasis can be put on skilled immigration there.
So why did the two big dogs have policies that differed from logic?
Because the main public view is the they don't want more and more immigrants coming to Australia from all of these different countries!
So the big dog parties were just doing what was popular to get voted in...
As soon as I learnt that a few years ago, I realized why I didn't follow politics naturally. I mean I had some interest in it but not much.
So what does this mean for the everyday joe?
For me it means that politics in Australia and in other countries will be an ongoing circus.
They will continue to do good things but also make similar mistakes to past ones.
Take the Australian Labour Party going into debt again after the liberals traditionally running a surplus.
While the debt wasn't much compared to other countries, it was headed in the wrong direction.
We all know that all debt is bad and increases the risk of a country getting into trouble.
The payments on this debt could also be spent for a better purpose.
So I hope this gives you something to think about for your future and Australia or your country's future.
I think you can tell that I'm a patriot even though I'm overseas and dissing Aussie politicians. I want Aus to grow and living conditions for people to keep getting better....
