Here are some sound estimates of the "other" additional costs involved: embalming - from $400 to $525, "outer" burial containers that include vaults ($750 to $1,100) and liners ($285 to $525). Many cemeteries are known to do away with using outer containers aside from the casket into the final resting place.

Note that under law, these funeral services are required to show their clients with the complete container price list. Ask for one. And if you happen to have problems on what container to purchase, you could always start with inspecting the cheaper ones and working your way to the more expensive ones.
