You have probably heard of the saying that beauty is skin deep. While this may be true, the society still prefers men and women who are physically attractive. Most of the time, people will notice you because of your appearance. So if you want to have a good impression, you should aim to have straight teeth and a more beautiful smile.
You can achieve this by having your teeth fixed. Today, there are different types of braces available. Each type has a special characteristic that will fit the needs of different patients. You can choose a type of braces depending on your personal preferences, needs, lifestyle, and budget.
Basically, there are two types of braces: removable and non-removable. As an adult, you may feel awkward about wearing braces since these things are usually worn by children and teenagers. If this is the case, you should go for the removable type so you can conveniently wear and take them off as needed.
On the other hand, non-removable braces should be chosen if you have complicated or severe orthodontic issues. Most orthodontists prescribe this type of braces to patients who may need a longer time for their teeth to be fixed.
Anyway, you can choose from metal, ceramic, and lingual braces. You can also have the Invisalign, Smart brackets, and Damon braces. Make it a point to check with your orthodontist about the advantages and disadvantages of these braces before you have your teeth fixed.
The most widely available braces are the metal ones. They involve metal brackets that are glued to the front of the teeth. They may or may not involve elastic rubber bands to hold the wires in place.
Ceramic braces are not as obvious as metal braces. They look good, and they blend in better with natural teeth because of their color. However, they also tend to be more expensive yet less sturdy.
Lingual braces are also made from metal; but instead of being glued to the front of the teeth, they are glued to the back part. This makes them less noticeable compared to metal braces. However, they may cut your tongue when you are not yet used to wearing them.
Invisalign braces are one of the most popular braces today. They are clear and practically invisible. They involve aligners that can be popped in and out of your mouth as needed. Then again, they are also very pricey.
Finally, there is Damon braces and Smart brackets. Damon braces are just like normal braces, except that they do not have rubber bands. They have brackets that let the wire slide. Smart brackets, on the other hand, use the most recent technology for braces. They provide information and measurements which can help minimize the total amount of time necessary for braces to be worn.
