It seems only fitting that since I've done "how to make money" videos on Facebook, being an author and blogging that I do one on how to make money with YouTube.

This is one of the easiest and cheapest possible way to get started earning affiliate commissions online.

This will be an intensive post so I will do my best to fill in the blanks and direct you to other resources as necessary. How to Make Money on YouTube – Step 1 – Pick a Product

You're first step will be to pick a product that you want to sell. My tip would be to visit websites like www.odigger.com, www.clickbank.com, and www.amazon.com and see what types of products are of interest to you. (because these will be easiest to sell)

Through Odigger and Clickbank you can earn up to 50%-70% commissions depending on the product, which can really add up.

Amazon is great with up-selling additional products so you can also earn a lot of money there if you sell higher end products and do volume.



Their typical commission structure is anywhere between 4%-8% depending on the amount of volume you sell through them. Keep in mind they sell computers and iPads so 4-8% can really add up!



Regardless of what you pick I would recommend starting with a product you've already bought and do a review on it. This will allow you to feel a bit more comfortable with talking about it on a video (that's right, you're going to be on YouTube!)




How To Make Money With YouTube – Step 2 – Do You Key Word Research

This is the most important part. If you want to learn how to make money with YouTube, you'll need to be aware of the exact phrases that people are searching for on Google.

This is important because it is an indicator of what's being searched for on YouTube... and YouTube videos come up in Google searches if they are properly optimized.


To do your research, go to www.googlekeywordtool.com and search for variations of the product you want to review. e.g. if I was reviewing an iPad, I would search "apple ipad 3 32GB review" etc...

As you search the different phrases you will see a number for "total global monthly searches". While you will be getting targeted traffic, I'd recommend doing something that gets at least 500 searches a months... obviously 60,000 is better though...lol


Remember, put yourself in your customer's shoes.....

if I'm looking for a review on a product, it means that I'm highly likely to buy...



A helpful video made by you with an affiliate link in the description will have a relatively high conversion rate (the number of people who click through) on the traffic it gets...



So if you had an iPad review video with 500 monthly searches and there's not a lot of competition for it.... it could be a great answer to the How to Make Money with YouTube Question!



To find out if there's a lot of competition for the word you want, run your own Google search and look for EXACT matches to your phrase... It's important that you're looking for exact matches because they're your direct competition!

If there are only a couple or a few, I say go for it... any more than that and I would look for a new word.



How to Make Money With YouTube – Step 3 – Shorten URL and Upload Content

For tracking purposes, head on over to www.bitly.com and shorten your affiliate link (just go to the site, it will make sense when you get there).

You can log into bitly at any time to review how many clicks you are getting from your videos....

...this is important because over time you'll want to know which videos and which products are converting best so you can focus more energy on them and become more effective with your time!

Now it's time to record your review and upload it to YouTube!
