Going back to the basics, especially blogging basics can be a good thing. More often than not, this is where the most common preventable errors lie. The good news is: these blogging mistakes can easily be corrected. Here are a few examples:

1. Writing articles for the mere purpose of writing articles.

In an effort to bulk up one's blog site, many first time bloggers write copiously... about nothing. They do this more the mere sake of posting something new on their blog site. If you want people to subscribe to your online pages, make sure you create content that is interesting, instructive, and worth sharing to other readers.

If you cannot do this at the moment, then better not post anything at all. Otherwise, your potential readers might think that you are an inefficient marketer. And this will greatly diminish your online credibility.

2. Haphazardly posting content material.

Although a blog site is indeed the best place to post the first series of coherent thoughts that comes to mind, there is still a lot to be said about a well-researched and well-written post.

Blogging basics 101: a well-researched post helps build up your online credibility as an "expert" with the product, service, idea you are promoting. This would be further reinforced by the articulate way you express yourself. So make sure that the blog's contents have depth (or at least, something thought-provoking,) and that you edit your posts extensively before they go live.

3. Forgetting who your target audience is.

Maybe, its because of that dancing cat background you have installed on your blog pages, or maybe the cutesy font you are using, along with a nursery tune you acquired somewhere that automatically plays when someone visits your blog.

Never forget who your target audience is. People who are looking for online vendors of automobile parts and accessories would not appreciate your decorating efforts on your blog.

The same is true when you write your posts. "Speak" to your intended market like a professional salesperson who actually knows what he/she is talking about, as opposed to a teenager talking to his peers about a new movie he/she just saw.
4. Be aloof with the people who try to reach out to you.

If people are interested in what you are trying to market, chances are: they will try to contact you through your blog. Answering queries can become tedious and redundant after some time, which is why many bloggers create their FAQ (frequently asked question) page. However, this does not mean that you disregard further inquiries afterwards.

Blogging basics entail that you reach out to as many people as possible, even if this means doing tedious and repetitive work. However, one of the major advantages of "talking" directly to your intended audience is that you develop this virtual rapport which can either become: a direct sale, or a possible referral to someone who will transact with you. In both cases, your blog's traffic will increase, which is always a good thing.
