The highly anticipated Game of Thrones epic fantasy TV series is an adaptation of George R. R. Martine's fantasy novel series; A Song of Ice and Fire. The adaptation was made by David Benioff and D. B. Weiss for HBO and was filmed in the breathtaking locations of Malta, Croatia, Iceland, Ireland and Morocco. The first episode premiered in 2011 on April 17 and has generated a large number of fans since then.

Plot and Setting

The story of Game of Thrones is set on a fantasy world of Westeros and Essos. The two fictional continents experience decade long seasons and are under the reign of kings. Noble houses and messages by raven are the usual pictures. The beginning of the series revolved around the fight for the Iron Throne, which was the place of rule over the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros. Treachery, political corruption and other plots escalate as an impending winter from the North threatens the resurrection of a feared race of mythical creatures. The characters, both young and old, are thrown into difficult situations where they are forced to exceed boundaries to protect themselves and their loved ones.

Success through Fans and Followers

The TV series obtained active international fan bases in several countries. Despite the constant criticism for nudity, the HBO TV series continued hitting it big through its intense plot and witty commentaries. This year, the third season was greatly anticipated by fans and first time viewers as the story progresses into more political and actual battles. The intensity of the fans' adoration for the TV series surprisingly led to an increase in the number of tourists visiting North Ireland. Enthusiasts also began purchasing George R. R. Peter Dinklage, the actor portraying the favourite "imp"; Tyrion Lanister, won the Primetime Emmy Award for the Best for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series as well as the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor under the series/ mini-series/ film series category.

With the third season now airing on HBO and the plot continues to unfold, audiences are at the edge of their seats. People are even more excited about the episodes to come and are hoping hard that the 4th season in 2014 will not be the final instalment. The existence of mythical creatures, multi-dimensional characters and ever changing plots has readers and watchers seeking more from the Game of Thrones.
